This will bring up the Opt-In Form Editor. The basic opt-in form includes Email Address Field, The First Name Field, and The Last Name Field.

I always delete the Last Name field because nobody wants to leave their last name, and its not necessary for Email List building 90% of the time. So I’ll select the Last Name Field for Deletion.

Nobody wants to Subscribe to your List for the heck of it. You need to provide an Incentive for them to “opt-in” to your List. This is why you need to provide a ethical bribe, aka a Lead Magnet to your Subscribers as an Incentive to enter their Email Address. You can call it a “Free Gift” if you’d like!

Click on the field that says “Translate It” to change the Text on your Submit Button. This is to reflect the fact that you’re offering a Free Gift!

“Free Instant Access” sounds a heck of a lot better than “Subscribe to List”

The next thing to configure is your “Thank You Page”. You can create a custom Thank you page and redirect people to that, or just use MailChimp’s and Edit it. If you’re new to this stuff, I recommend just editing MailChimp’s Thank You Page.

The next text to edit is the Email Confirmation message. This should also reflect the fact that you’re offering a Free Bonus. You’ve gotta motivate people to complete the Opt-In Process!

…And don’t forget to mention the Lead Magnet!

The last thing to edit is the confirmation button message, from the boring “yes, subscribe me to this list”, to the more attractive sounding “Confirm & Download Now”!. You can edit this text by clicking on “Translate It”.

You’re almost done! All you have to do now is edit the Subscription Confirmation Page. You can redirect the newly confirmed Subscriber to a custom “thank you page” or the MailChimp Confirmation page. Again, for simply, we’ll go with MailChimp’s Page.
